There is a long story behind the last small animal we owned. Quesadilla, the hampster, had a short life in the Fisk house. The kids have talked on and off about wanting to have a pet again. Me, the anti pet mother, listened to their crys and answered, I'm sorry we can't. Then for some reason I had this bright idea to consider it...and to mention going to just look at a local pet shop. We looked at everything, fed the tortoise's and talked to one of the employee's. She of course had to confirm that yes, all my prior research was correct and Rats are hands down the best small animals for kids. Really?
I decided to pole my fabulous facebook fans and once again, the response was overwhelming for the little rats. I had to warm up to the idea of owning rats. We looked at several places, held a few of them and finally made our decision. With a brand new Eco Friendly rat cage, recycled bedding and a slew of chew toys, we welcomed into our family a new pet rat. While driving home we settled on naming her Harley. Of course the kids were giddy with excitement and helped place everything just so in the new cage. We introduced Harley to her new home and went to bed.
We now own two rats. Harley was depressed, I get it- she left a cage full of friends and came to this crazy place. But the story of her roomate is for another day, because it is long, and sad, then happy again. :)

They love frozen peas. :) We used to have a pair. The kids loved them!
